Our roots

> The roots of WISUTEC go back to Wismut which was one of the world’s biggest uranium producers from 1946 and 1990. After the German reuni-
fication, Wismut as a government-owned company has been implementing one of the largest mining and environmental rehabilitation projects worldwide.

The Wismut project has set international standards with regards to the closure and rehabilitation of mining sites, in particular with radioactive contamination.

In 2002 WISUTEC Wismut Umwelttechnik GmbH was founded as a subsidiary of Wismut GmbH in order to market the know-how acquired throughout the Wismut activities flexibly and customer-oriented on a global scale. Experts and specialists of Wismut GmbH are still available to us.

WISUTEC has specialised in providing consulting and engineering services in the fields of mine closure, environmental rehabilitation, water treatment as well as management and utilisation of extractive waste.

Our roots in the uranium mining industry establish also the basis for WISUTEC’s particular professional competence in special fields such as radiation protection, handling of radioactive substances or the removal of uranium from drinking water.

Since its foundation WISUTEC has been internationally active. We count major international organisations among our customers next to mining and raw materials enterprises, governmental institutions and public authorities.

In 2005, WISUTEC became a major shareholder of MonTec GmbH , Duisburg (Germany), a company specialised in consultancy services for the mining industry at home and abroad. As a result our presence in Germany and our international reach were significantly extended.
